Sometimes it's the little things that make all the difference.  The tiniest of tweaks to an outfit can rescue a sartorial miss and turn it into an instant hit. And it's these simple styling tricks that often come into play when I'm helping clients make the most of their current wardrobes.

A case in point, here's style.com's definitive guide to the 'tuck'...

Editor in Chief of French Vogue, Emmanuelle Alt, is master of the Classic Tuck — a 5 to 6 inch span of the top tucked loosely into the centre front of the trousers. This works best with an oversize shirt, modern belt, and Alt-worthy heels.

Button your shirt to the top of your jeans, tuck in the interior shirt flap, and let the other hang freely. The more unbuttoned the shirt is, the cooler.

A favourite of models-off-duty, the side tuck is the ultimate in nonchalance. Bunch a section of an oversize tee in front of one hip bone, et voilà!

Sometimes you don’t need to tuck at all.  Simply tangle your top into the sweater tied around your waist.
