Paris: Au Revoir not Adieu...

I'm still on a high from our stay in Paris last weekend.  Here are a few of the highlights from our short but very sweet trip...

Where we stayed...

We had a fabulous few nights at the Hotel Amour in Pigalle, the former red light district.

The decor reflects the building's past as a brothel, so it's not for everyone, but we loved it!  The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the service was superb. There's a great restaurant and a lovely leafy terrace, and both were really buzzing in the evenings.

What we saw...

The main reason for our trip was to see Hedi Slimane's 'Sonic' exhibition at the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent, and it didn't disappoint.

Saint Laurent's creative director is also an accomplished photographer, and the exhibition showcases a collection of his work with musicians and rock legends over the past 15 years.

This black and white print of Lou Reed now adorns my living room wall...

The exhibition runs until 11th January, and if you'd like more details click here

Where we shopped....

Saint Laurent, of course!  The trip wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the flagship store on Avenue Montaigne.

It was the first boutique to be refurbished under the direction of Hedi Slimane, and the mirrors and marble provide the perfect backdrop to the designer's cool, contemporary clothing.

These leather lace up 'Patti' boots came home with me...

as did this super studded purse...

My boyfriend spoilt me rotten!

Another must was a visit to the concept store, Merci.  Here's my other half posing by probably the most photographed Fiat in Paris which is parked at the entrance...

After enjoying a café au lait outside the café (in the 29 degree heat!) we set about exploring the shop's four floors.  Merci stocks clothing, accessories and jewellery, as well as homewares, and by established and lesser known designers, plus their own line.

I treated myself to another print for my wall, and this simple, wool Isabel Marant blazer...

After our last trip to Paris, Aaron and I had vowed that we wouldn't visit again. It was a memorable experience for all the wrong reasons.   But last weekend we saw another side to the city, and were definitely won over. We can't wait to go back!
