Pretty Vacant

The Metropolitan Museum of Art - New York

With the imminent opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's 'Punk: Chaos to Couture' exhibition, I've been anticipating a slew of punk related fashion stories to appear in the monthly glossies.  And the latest editions didn't disappoint. Well, one of them didn't...

Vogue's Pretty Vacant story, styled by Francesca Burns and shot by Paolo Roversi, is quite hauntingly beautiful. Unlike one of its competitors, which has fallen into the tired trap of producing a series of stereotypical shots featuring a sneering model, Vogue has perfectly captured high fashion's constant fascination with punk.

It hasn't escaped me that the success of the shoot, in my eyes at least, is due in no small part to Stella Tennant.  One of my favourite British models, she never fails to disappoint.

What do you think...
