Summer Dressing

Navigating nine to five dressing can be a challenge at the best of times, but now that the mercury has (finally!) started to rise deciding what to wear to work can be a daily dilemma.

Here are my top tips for keeping your cool when the heat is on...

Dress to Impress
The dress is a summer wardrobe staple.  Simple and uncluttered, a great one piece is the perfect solution to the warm weather dressing dilemma.  Office friendly styles include the very wearable wrap dress, or, as seen on the Céline summer catwalk, the crisp, cool shirt dress.

Cool Colours
Introducing lighter colours into your working wardrobe will help you keep your cool, as well as seasonally update your style.  The pretty blush palette seen at Chanel was a feature on many of the runways this season.

Fair Weather Fabrics
Lightweight materials are staying cool essentials.  Natural, breathable fabrics such as cotton, linen and silk are best when it comes to countering the hot weather, but they do have a tendency to crease.  For a more professional looking alternative, opt for garments in blended fabrics.

The Great Cover Up
The mercury may be rising, but today's often fierce air conditioning systems mean that having a cover up to hand is a must.  A lightweight jacket in a relaxed fit is ideal, as seen at Dries Van Noten.
