If you're planning to escape to sunnier climes this summer, then here are my five top tips for travelling light without sacrificing your style...
Do your homework
It may sound obvious, but before you start thinking about your holiday wardrobe do make sure that you know what to expect at your destination. And not just in terms of the climate, but culturally too. Is there a dress code you will need to follow?
Less is more
Most of us take far too many clothes away with us. To avoid falling into this trap, simply make a list of what you will actually need day by day.
All in the mix
A shrunken suitcase doesn't mean a loss of style. The secret to achieving pared down glamour is to pack clothes that you can dress up and down. A few well chosen separates, built around a simple colour scheme, can be styled into a variety of different looks much more easily that a suitcase full of statement pieces.
You wear it well
Pack garments that will not only travel well, but will wear well while you are away. Natural fabrics such as cotton are absorbent and breathe well, but do crease easily. And whereas manmade fabrics can be more durable, they are often not as comfortable to wear in the heat. Garments in blended fabrics may be a better holiday choice.
Day to night dressing
Accessorise simple separates with some great jewellery, but do leave any items of sentimental or monetary value at home. A pair of heels or decorative flats will also dress up any outfit, and don't forget to pack a soft knit for those chilly evenings.
